Despite attracting thousands of supportive public submissions, the proposed Moreton Motorsport Park in Beachmere continues to face organised opposition as the project moves through the Ministerial Infrastructure Designation (MID) assessment process, with both supporters and critics urging decision makers to consider their competing arguments.

Strong Public Response to Consultation

The proposed $20 million Moreton Motorsport Park would be built on land off Bloesch Road between Caboolture and Beachmere, covering a development footprint of about 24.8 hectares. The application was lodged on 23 March 2026 and is being assessed through MID rather than the standard local development application process.
The public consultation period attracted almost 7,000 submissions after being extended by Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie following a heated community meeting earlier this year. According to project proponent Corbet’s Group, about 80 per cent of submissions supported the proposal, reflecting what it describes as broad backing for the facility.
The planned precinct would include speedway and motocross tracks, driver training facilities, a BMX track, pitting areas, temporary grandstand seating, food and beverage outlets, parking and supporting infrastructure. Plans also include stormwater and flood management works, acoustic mounding and fencing.
Supporters Highlight Economic and Community Benefits

Project proponents argued the motorsport park would provide more than a venue for racing events. Economic modelling prepared for the proposal estimates the facility could contribute around $15 million to the local economy each year, generate hundreds of construction jobs during development and support more than 40 ongoing positions once operational.
The proposal also includes driver training facilities that could be used by emergency services as well as members of the public undertaking defensive driving courses. The project team has consistently maintained that technical assessments covering noise, traffic, flooding, ecology and economic need have been undertaken to inform the design and reduce impacts on surrounding communities.
Supporters say the development would provide a dedicated venue for motorsport enthusiasts while creating new opportunities for local businesses through the economic activity forecast in the proposal.
Annual forecasts included in the proposal anticipate 16 speedway meetings and 29 motocross events, ranging from smaller competitions to larger events expected to attract crowds of up to 4,000 spectators.
Community Group Maintains Concerns
Despite the level of public support reported by the project team, community group No Moreton Motorsport Park says its focus has shifted from gathering submissions to advocating directly with decision makers.
The group argued that submissions from residents living closest to the proposed site should carry particular weight because they would experience the direct effects of the development.
Among its concerns are the adequacy of the project’s flood modelling, the assessment of potential noise impacts, groundwater protection measures and traffic modelling. The group says these issues should be addressed during the assessment process.
It also contends that the proposal could affect not only Beachmere but neighbouring communities including Ningi, Sandstone Point, Bribie Island, North Harbour, Burpengary East, Caboolture, and Morayfield.
Representatives from the group recently met with the Deputy Premier’s office and Moreton Bay officials to outline their concerns and argue that an alternative location should be considered for the project.
Assessment Process Continues
The Moreton Motorsport Park proposal remains under consideration through the MID process.
While supporters point to projected economic benefits, new recreational opportunities and emergency driver training facilities, opponents continue to question whether the site’s environmental, traffic and community impacts have been fully addressed.

With consultation complete, attention has shifted to the assessment process and the consideration of issues raised by both supporters and opponents.
For now, the future of the proposed motorsport precinct remains undecided, with both sides continuing to press their case as the assessment process moves forward.
