A new community group has formed in Beachmere with a focus on bringing residents together and supporting local events. Beachmere Village Events was formed by local residents, with Christmas in the Park among its first priorities.

The group is now working to continue the annual celebration after Beachmere Area Network Group, known as BANG, which previously ran the event, disbanded. For the new organisation, Christmas in the Park is part of a broader focus on community connection. Its Facebook group described a goal of creating opportunities for people to come together, support local organisations, and enjoy family-friendly events.
“Our goal is to create opportunities for people to connect, support local businesses, community groups, and volunteers, and enjoy family-friendly events such as Christmas in the Park, markets, fundraisers, and other community celebrations throughout the year,” the group stated.
Bringing Christmas In The Park Back
The previous Christmas in the Park attracted more than 1000 visitors and featured entertainment, market stalls, classic cars, food vendors and fundraising activities involving local groups.
Beachmere Village Events is now working to continue the event, with approaches made to Beachmere State School, Birali Steiner School and other local groups about taking part. Fundraising is also underway. The group is planning activities including a Bunnings sausage sizzle and a high tea, while seeking community grants to help fund Christmas in the Park.
A committee was formed in July, and the organisation has since been incorporated. Its formation follows community discussions that began at a June protest concerning the proposed Moreton Motorsport Park. Beachmere Village Events has said it wants to operate separately from the motorsport protest group, while rebuilding a sense of community remains one of its motivations.
That distinction is reflected in the group’s wider description of its purpose. Rather than focusing solely on one event, Beachmere Village Events says it wants to support a range of activities across the year, including markets, fundraisers and other community celebrations.

For now, Christmas in the Park is the immediate focus. The group is seeking the funding and community involvement needed to bring the event back, while also establishing itself as a new organisation for local activities.
Christmas in the Park would give Beachmere another opportunity to gather at the end of the year, while forming part of the group’s longer-term effort to create more opportunities for residents, businesses, community organisations and volunteers to connect.
