Caboolture motorists are facing another day of unsettled weather after flash flooding affected roads across the district, with severe thunderstorms forecast to bring further heavy rain to South East Queensland. Hume Road was among the routes listed during the latest period of flooding, while a crossing at Elimbah remained on Queensland Traffic’s Monday morning closure report.

A Queensland Traffic report issued at 9:00 am AEST on Monday 26 October listed Old Gympie Road at Elimbah as closed to all traffic because of flash flooding. Hume Road in Caboolture and Whittington Road in Moodlu, which appeared in an earlier operational report, were absent from the later listing.
Elimbah crossing remains on closure report

Old Gympie Road was recorded under incident number 835948, with flash flooding identified as the reason for the closure. The operational report did not provide precise closure endpoints, making the latest traffic information important for motorists travelling through the area.
Hume Road had been recorded under incident number 836291, with its individual update dated Sunday 25 October at 5:20 pm. The subsequent removal of the road from the published report does not establish when it became accessible again or whether restrictions remained elsewhere along the route.
Queensland Traffic cautions that road conditions can change rapidly and that its operational data may be up to 90 minutes old. Drivers should not rely on earlier closure reports when deciding whether a crossing is safe.
Heavy rain brought flooding across Moreton Bay

The latest road reports follow the intense thunderstorms that swept through Caboolture and neighbouring suburbs on Thursday 22 October, causing flash flooding and disrupting travel across the Moreton Bay region.
Contemporary reports documented substantial rainfall around Caboolture, Morayfield, and Burpengary. The heavy downpour affected local roads and creek crossings, with floodwater creating hazards well beyond the period of heaviest rainfall.
The City of Moreton Bay issued wet-weather and flash-flooding information during the event, while Queensland Traffic recorded closures across several parts of the region. Conditions have since changed, so the earlier emergency reports should not be treated as current closure advice.
Severe thunderstorms forecast for Monday
The Bureau of Meteorology’s forecast issued at 8:56 am Monday predicted a 90 per cent chance of rain for Caboolture, with possible falls of 2 to 25 mm and a maximum temperature of 31 degrees.
Thunderstorms were considered likely across the Southeast Coast forecast district during the afternoon and evening. Some could be severe, bringing damaging winds, large hail and heavy rainfall capable of producing flash flooding.
The forecast does not establish that another severe storm has already struck Caboolture or that fresh flooding has occurred. Public transport passengers also face a separate, scheduled change. Translink has arranged railbuses between Caboolture and Gympie North from Monday 26 to Wednesday 28 October because of planned track works, rather than flood damage.
