Bramble Bay Bowls Club in Woody Point is undergoing a major upgrade, with its existing bowling green removed as work begins on a new synthetic surface and protective cover.

The improvements are part of a significant investment in the club’s facilities, with construction getting under way in June 2026. Completion is expected in November 2026.
For a club established more than 75 years ago, the project will replace its existing bowling green with a synthetic surface and protective cover.
A club with more than 75 years of history
Bramble Bay Bowls Club was established in 1948. Its clubhouse at the corner of Hornibrook Esplanade and Victoria Avenue opened in 1994.
The latest works will replace the existing green with synthetic grass and add a dome-style cover. The club said the investment will provide members and guests with a high-quality playing surface for years to come while improving the overall bowls experience.
“This significant investment in our facilities will ensure our members and guests enjoy high-quality playing surfaces for years to come, while enhancing the overall bowls experience at the club,” the club said.
New green to expand how the space is used
The synthetic surface is expected to provide a consistent playing area throughout the year while reducing the maintenance required for the green. The project also includes a protective cover over the green. The club says it will provide protection from rain and Queensland’s summer sun, allowing the space to be used when weather would previously have interrupted play.
The club says the covered green will create opportunities for twilight and evening bowls, competitions, coaching clinics and barefoot bowls. The club also said the covered green could be used for corporate functions and community events.
Construction is continuing across sections of the grounds, while the club continues to operate during the works. Regular bowls activities, social events, live entertainment, dining and bar services are continuing where possible during the project. The Golden Bite Restaurant is also operating.
There are temporary access arrangements during construction. The Victoria Avenue car park is closed and being used as a construction zone, with access instead through the Georgina Street car park and entrance.
Temporary fencing, machinery and work areas are in place around sections of the club grounds, with some noise and minor disruption expected during construction hours.

Members and visitors are being asked to follow temporary signage, use designated entry points and walkways, and stay clear of construction areas. Once the upgrade is complete, the club also plans to use signage around the greens for advertising and promotions. The new synthetic green and cover are expected to be completed in November 2026.
